Clifford Keith Band

Singer-songwriter Clifford Keith and his band are beginning to make waves in the Delaware music scene. The ‘Clifford Keith sound’ is described as a mix of classic country and early, energetic rock and roll. The band’s vocal style blends Appalachian Bluegrass with contemporary issues that resonate throughout modern culture. Currently, Keith is in the studio working on two brand new original tracks, ‘Excuse Me Miss’ and ‘South Country Blues.’ “Both songs encompass my goals as a musician,” Keith explains. He wants to bring brutally honest and heartfelt topics to his audiences through memorable melodies and tunes.

When performing live, Clifford Keith and his band perform a masterful blend of original songs of Keith’s and well-known country, folk, and Americana songs. Keith is heavily inspired by the likes of John Prine, Robert Earl Keen, and Johnny Cash, so naturally, those artists’ songs find their way into each night’s set. Fans of the band are often surprised, however, because Keith doesn’t want to be a jukebox for those standards. He reinvents them and filters them through his own sound, resulting in a delighted audience.

The group consists of Keith on lead vocals, his wife Erin M. on vocals vocals, harmonicist Luke Burton and a four-piece backing band. This is Keith’s first project as a singer-songwriter. He’s adamant about the pursuit of his passion, though, and he intends to continue to be a mainstay in the community as long as he can make a difference.

On April 9th, it is Clifford Keith Duo, performing as part of our Sunday Afternoon Music Series

Foggy May

Foggy May formed in the summer of 2010 in Westminster, MD. Foggy May is a rock n’ roll trio with David Klima on Vocals/Bass, Ben O’Brien on Guitar/Vocals, and Reed Rhoads on Drums/Vocals. Starting from the beginning, we made our debut performance at Pig Roast 2010. The set consisted of 5 cover songs and out first original tune, ‘Constipated Pig’. Many tunes and gigs later, we are still a rock n’ roll trio playing music for the people. In 2011, the band continued to write material and gig whenever we could. Shows in this year include performances at local clubs like the VFW, American Legion and Winfield Fire hall. We also hit the high school circuit and played at the Westminster High school and Manchester Valley High school talent shows. Foggy May are the two-time first place winners at the Manchester Valley Talent Show. This year gave us experience playing at a multitude of venues. We played at Applebee’s, the St. John’s Carnival and the Recher Theater.

2012 started with a recording session at Nonsuch Productions in Bowie, MD where we recorded our first four track E.P. This year brought us house shows, interviews, and a first place spot at the Rock for Liberty Battle of the Bands. This is about when we developed a comradery with other groups. Generating a local music scene was rewarding and fun! We played venues like Baltimore Soundstage, Jams Music Center, Benet Cerf Park, and even a Crab feast in 2012. In January of 2013, we competed in our second Rock for Liberty Battle of the Bands and won first place. We met plenty of cool people at these shows and it was great growing up around other local musicians where we supported each other and had friendly competition. After more writing, it was time to hit the studio. In April, we recorded our second four track E.P. at Blue Room Productions in Bethesda, MD. That compact disc was handed out at shows that year like Westminster Fall Fest, Brass Monkey Saloon, and Sportsman’s Hall Skating Rink. In March of 2014 we played at ‘Cool Schools Polar Bear Plunge’ at Sandy Point State Park. This was our biggest show at the time. We learned how to play in cold weather and entertain a large mass of folk. We continued to learn new cover songs to keep shows fresh for ourselves and the regular attendees. Of course we spent more time on songwriting and showcased our tunes at Fish Head Cantina, Ottobar, Greene Turtle, Shockwave Records, live on Classic Rock the Vault (internet Radio) and at our first Wedding. 2014 rounded out with a few recording sessions at Echoes Recording Studio in Sharpsburg, MD to make our first seven track L.P.

In January of 2015, the band released our first self-titled record. That same month we played our second Cool Schools Polar Bear Plunge which somehow topped the last. In addition to the house shows with our beloved fellow musicians, the group played at Gettysburg Rock’s Music Festival, Hauser Estate Winery, Carroll Arts Center, Main Street Music Fest in Ellicott City, and the Westminster Skate Park. We also hit the college circuit and performed at Carroll Community College, St. Mary’s College, and Frostburg University. 2015 was our first year playing at Launch Music Conference where we played two slots in the festival line-up. Of course we played Pig Roast for the sixth year in a row and played live on Irie Radio-98.1 FM in Ocean City, MD. The trek continued in January 2016 when we traveled south to Atlanta, Georgia to audition for America’s Got Talent. Although we were not selected to be on the show, it was interesting and informative to see the ‘behind the scenes’ action of the show.

In 2016, Foggy May played some wicked festivals like Launch, Artscape, Chasefest, and a Recovery Throw down in St. Mary’s County. We also played shows at St. Mary’s College and York College. Gigs this year included Metropolitan Kitchen and Lounge in Annapolis, The Hard Rock Cafe’ in Baltimore, a Chili Cook Off in Gettysburg, a funeral in Westminster, and Connie’s Ric Rac in Philadelphia. This was the first year where the band had multiple shows in all 12 months. We kept busy in the studio as well where we began independently recording our second full length L.P, ‘Sal Paradise’.

2017 consisted of more home recording for the Sal Paradise record. In May, we competed in the Hard Rock Rising Battle of the Bands and made it to the 2nd round. Highlights this year included our fourth performance at the Cool Schools Polar Bear Plunge, a frat party at the University of Maryland, the Jersey Shore Fest in New Jersey, the H-Street Fest in D.C, and Bottom County Festival at St. Mary’s College where we paid tribute to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and performed with sox on our cox. As well as multiple local bars, house shows, and Baltimore clubs, Foggy May performed at Johnny’s Pizza and Pub in Ocean City, MD, the Barbary in Philadelphia, Shrine World Music Venue in New York City, and the Radio Bean in Burlington, Vermont.

Joint Operation

Joint Operation is a powerful funky reggae-rock band from Baltimore, MD. This explosive four-piece has made quite a presence for themselves in the Mid-Atlantic with dozens of shows with the biggest names in the genre. Life-long friends, Josh Lewis, Jacob Nadeau, Ben O’Brien, and Fabrizio Scotto, have managed to integrate all the genres they grew to love as children into this power group. Whether it be reggae, punk rock or funk, this group rocks the house and shows fans how to party. Influences include Beck, Nirvana, Sublime, and many more!

Looking into the core of their music, it is almost hard to believe they are only a four-piece band. With the filling sounds of Josh Lewis’ powerful vocals and Ben O’Brien’s savory guitar licks, you would think that they must have another member hidden and playing along. Accompanying him, is the rhythm section made up of Jacob Nadeau’s funky bass hits that are always right in the pocket with drummer Fabrizio Scotto’s hard-hitting fills and snaps. Joint Operation values the idea of connecting with others through their music. The band hopes to create music and play live shows to help others forget the struggles of life, and just enjoy living in the moment.

Their debut album is planned for release in the summer of 2019. “The Road”, a single off their upcoming album was released May 12th 2019 and is available everywhere! This record focuses on talking about life, happiness, and struggles, while bringing in the party with the lively music of their mixed genres. This album will for sure have something for everyone, and the band cannot wait to finally release it after two years of production!

Joint Operation loves to challenge themselves, whether it be on the road, in the studio, on stage, or at practice, they are always trying to be greater. With huge performances, and multiple tours under their belt, they are ready to travel farther out and share their music with others. They hope to push themselves harder and celebrate music and art with others all over the globe!

Mathew Street Band

Billy Libkey – Lead singer and guitarist

Feb.9 1964 my interest in being a musician was sparked. (Beatles appearance on Ed Sullivan) Feb. 10 1964 my interest was now a full-fledged forest fire! All I had to do was learn to play an instrument and girls would love me. Though I was only 10 I wasn’t stupid. Well maybe a little I wanted to be a drummer (I’m just kidding Donny) but my dad “suggested” I may enjoy guitar much more. I think it had something to do with the sound level of practice. So I went with being a guitar player. Played in a few bands around Baltimore. Was even lucky enough to win a local newspaper contest. Got to hear some of my original songs on the radio and made a ton of musician friends. Fast forward to 2011, retired and moved to the beach. Life is looking really good. Started playing music around town a little and made some more musician friends. Met Donny on the beach, let him talk me into putting a band together and here we are!

Scott Gordy – Bass guitar

Scott was born and raised in Lewes. The only true Local in the band. He started playing bass at 14. Scott started playing bass for his high school jazz band. That not satisfying his musical itch he started his own band. They recorded a demo and played private parties for friends and neighbors. Than ’92 he joined “Wootz the Cat” (“wootz”is “pig” in German- don’t ask). They played Arena’s Sir Guy’s,  etc. in Rehoboth. That became “Reality Sandwich”. Then played in “Touch of Strange”. Played A LOT in Rehoboth, Dewey, O.C. etc.  The guitar player from “Reality Sandwich” joined us, and with a different drummer, we became local faves “Scrapple”. After Scrapple I joined The Wise Guys (with Rick. of course). During the Wise Guys’ 10 year hiatus, I played bass in the orchestra for shows at Possum Point Theater, Second Street Theater, and Clear Space Theater. The Wise Guys came back and then morphed into “The Five8” and now I’m here.

Rick Trasatti – Lead guitar and Vocals

Rick’s musical career started in South Philly. He started playing guitar by “accident”.  He found himself laid up after a car accident and during his convalescence he picked up his brothers guitar and by the end of the summer he was playing ‘Down by the River,’ down by the river. When he got back on his feet he started playing the South Street circuit with various bands.  He polished his skills for several years in Philly and than moved to the beach in ’86.  When he got here he put together several bands.  His earlier bands include “Ruckus,” “Forecast” and “Blue Raven.”  He was also an original member of the “Wise Guys,” and played with them for 18 years.  In November of  2014 we dragged him off the couch and made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. Rick is now playing lead guitar and sharing the lead vocals in MSB.

Don Perrin – Drums and vocals

Don started playing drums in the sixth grade.  He formed Mother’s Oats with friends in ninth grade and continued playing school dances until graduation. Mother’s Oats opened for Iron Butterfly. If you know Iron Butterfly than you have come to the right website!  Mother’s Oats set list wasn’t quite classic yet.  He moved on to the group 99 Years, and they played around the clubs in Northern New Jersey.   The band performed a mix of Rock (still not quite classic), Country, Blues and Bluegrass which expanded his playing styles. 99 Years opened for Richie Havens. Again, if you know Richie you have come to the right place!   So jump in the DeLorean and we will head to 2012. Donnie and his bride move to the beach. Sitting in his home at the beach, feeling the warm glow of content, he started to get this little itch. At first he thought it might be sand fleas but with further inward reflection he realized how much he missed playing music.  A chance trip to Cape Henlopen beach on a sunny day would prove to be his first scratch, the meeting of his future musical partner. He still wonders if going to the pool that day may have been a better idea.   He came upon a silver-haired guitarist playing these terrific 70’s and 80’s tunes on his acoustic guitar.   His wife (Don’s not the silver-haired guitarist) encouraged him to go up and introduce himself.  After much persuasion, he convinced Billy that a band would be a good idea and the Mathew Street Band was born!

Mercy Alliance

THE MERCY ALLIANCE is an indie-rock trio led by Joe Rathbone, a seasoned songwriter, singer, and guitar player based in Washington, D.C., who has garnered a reputation for his lyrically rich, musically layered, song-driven studio albums. Both as a solo performer and a bandleader, he has brought his image-filled songs and evocative melodies to venues up and down the East Coast and across the country. Sirius XM and AAA stations like New York’s WFUV and Charlotte’s WNCW have championed the band and live radio performances have included WFUV’s “Words and Music” and public radio’s Mountain Stage. The band has shared stages with artists like Shawn Colvin, Tim Finn, Al Stewart, The Carpenter Ants, Israeli musical heroes “Rock Four,” Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express, Steve Forbert and many more.

Bassist Ken Spector and vocalist/percussionist Andrew Ratliff (veterans of the Philly and DC indie scenes respectively, as former members of numerous bands) provide an energetic and dynamic rhythm section along with great harmonies, propping up Joe’s big guitar sound. Their live shows feature great grooves, ear-catching choruses, bold guitar solos, and a passionate, positive vibe.

Mick Fury

Mick Fury.  You need to click on the link below and listen to this man sing.

Mick has toured and played over 150 shows in the past year.  He’s been fortunate enough to share the stage with everyone from Bret Michaels to Brothers Osborne to Marshall Tucker Band, and was a CMA and Key West Songwriter Fest performer. His solo show is fun blend of country covers and originals, classic rock, and crowd pleasers.  He performs everything from Johnny Cash to Allman Brothers to Ed Sheeran.  In a nutshell, it’s a good time show.

From Mick:

“Ok let’s get you caught up on my story. I know, I’m supposed to pretend this is being written by some wordsmith that’s tells ya how great I am. This ain’t how a “bio” is supposed to read. Well this ship flies under different sails. Since I struck out on my own a decade ago, I’ve never lived over the poverty line. I’ve worked as a drug store clerk in my hometown of Syracuse, NY, as a jingle writer in my current home of Nashville, TN, and as a flower delivery guy once on Valentine’s Day in Watts, CA. That was probably the most interesting one. I’ve been lucky enough to share the stage with everyone from Bret Michaels to Marshall Tucker to the Stone Temple Pilots in my rock days, and now Craig Campbell, Travis Tritt and Brothers Osborne in the Country World. I was fortunate to have a stand up Pops who taught me how to play the guitar, mostly so I could back him up in his bands, and showed me the meaning of hard work. I was also unfortunate enough to lose my mother to cancer at age 7, which sent me spiraling out of control through my teens and beyond. I’ve seen things in my short time on Earth that would make Hank Williams Jr. blush, and thats what I sing about. Reeling in an off the rails life, following love, and opening up some folks’ eyes to things that need fixin’. Our previous bio read that our live show is like “Garth Brooks meets Zac Brown.” Thats exactly what the show is, a jam band with a big personality up front. But nobody ever said that, I made all that crap up. I’m the hardest working guy you’ll meet and we’re making this thing fly and having a hell of a time doing it, wanna ride?”

Mick will be performing three consecutive shows at The Pond in June, July and September.
Thursday will be more of a singer/songwriter laid back kind of show.  But who knows?  He could be kicking it up a few notches.
Friday is going to be a very high energy show that gets people up dancing and having a ball.  He will be keeping the party going until close.
And the Saturday show, well it will be a fantastic combination of the two.

July 19-21

The signature sound is evident through his catalog. You can see the growth process of Milton J as an artist via progression of his releases. The image is simply to be your authentic self. In the end only your true self can be the realist. He works with musicians Nick “Rooster” Lewis (Bass Guitar) & Brandon Butts (Drums) on many full band records while also doing regular projects with producers like The Real Charlemagne & more.

Rags & Riches

BIOGRAPHY

R & R are an adrenalized, American Pop-Rock band hailing from Lexington, Kentucky. Formed in 2017, the band features brothers Tanner & Peyton Whitt. Over the last two years, they have discovered their unique sound, identity, and aesthetic. In early 2019, the band released their first single “Speed Of Sound”, within the first few months the song had been played more than a million times. During the fall of 2019, they will tour the Midwest, South, Mountain and Pacific states.

PRESS

“Forming in 2017 and hailing from Lexington Kentucky R & R have released a new video for their single ” Speed Of Sound “. The video showcases the bands live performances in what looks like an urban area and a forest filled with a druid like cult. The song itself is packed full of energy with a killer guitar riff that carries the entire song, plus some pretty intense drumming. If R & R continue to pump out music like this, they will be headlining festivals in no time, and I for one would love to see their swagger live.”  – The Girls At The Rock Show

Red Letter Day

Red Letter Day is a name synonymous with 20 years of independently produced music, melding multi-instrumental talents, and prolific songwriting. Suzanna Mallow and Andrea Jones started Red Letter Day and began writing music together in 1990. There really is no better way to describe the Red Letter Day experience…moving effortlessly between genres of alt rock to funky country, to (always) folk influenced and all with lots of harmony and heart. Red Letter Day balances out a show usually with a bit of harmonica, saxophone, percussion, acoustic guitar and electric guitar all distinctly different in sound and delivery. Suzanna and AJ performed nationally for fifteen years as Red Letter Day, with an edge bordering more on raw soul sharing due to influences from a gospel, soul and blues/rock background. SKRIBE

Who is SKRIBE? Well, he travels from town to town in a blue hearse spreading his own blend of garage folk: An unpretentious soulful sub-genre that draws from roots Americana & the 60’s garage rock spirit. Skribe plays an oil can called a canjo-zookie. It’s an eight-string guitar with a biting, blues-y rasp. Skribe’s got the voice (and the old-school Cadillac) to match. Accompanying himself on the suitcase-kick and hi-hat, Skribe’s “M.I.Y.” is a barn-burning roots number.

They call it “garage folk,” perhaps because the music is crafted without any more polish than it needs to showcase the allure of its soulfully delivered down-to-earth lyrics. The focus of Skribe’s sound is rhythmic acoustic strumming and plucking with emphatic vocals that epitomize the musical landscape of the area’s small-town city feel. Oh yeah, and the kazoo. Who knew you could elevate a quasi-irritating kid’s birthday party favor to a desirable sounding musical instrument?! -Lindsay Bolin Lowery – Visit Annapolis / LBo Craft

Slide Winder Blues Band

The SlideWinder Blues Band hits hard with its own brand of Texas and Chicago driven contemporary blues. For those times when the 1, 4, 5 just isn’t enough, the bands red blooded live shows are full of vigor and offer a sonic pallet indicative of the Mississippi Delta and New Orleans.

Hailing from Doylestown, PA, a suburban town just north of Philadelphia, SlideWinder is comprised of several regulars of “The Every Tuesday Funk n’ Blues Jam”, a weekly open blues jam originally born within the venue walls of Puck Live in Doylestown and continues to this day at Club Havana in New Hope, PA.

Now in its sixth year, SlideWinder isn’t just a band, it’s a community. Inductees of The PA Blues Hall of Fame, winner of the Bucks Happening List for two consecutive years for best band category, charting positions at international radio with their debut record, all position SlideWinder to expand it’s aural footprint. Most recently, a bluesy re-do of the 1961 hit “A Little Bit of Soap” is scheduled to drop in late May of this year.

The core members of the band include founder Paul Boddy on lead vocal and guitars. Organ and piano are delivered ardently by Glenn “The Wizard” Hale. The brick wall bottom is provided by bass-man Chuck Hearne and the drums are hit with authority by the go-lucky Dave Hollingsworth.

The band’s first release, “Over the Hump” is a humorous tale of an aging body playing host to the thoughts of a younger mind. Follow-up tracks include “Love Me Darlin” which is unabashedly about the come-hear go-away dynamic of troubled relationships. “Money on Love” depicts a young man blowing his weekly paycheck in bars as he looks for love. “Knock my Boots” is not only a play on words, but a line drawn in the sand about a mans prized pair of cowboy boots. Pretty Kitty is a humorous story of a woman’s pet and chock full of innuendo. The bands first entry into ballad territory is “Makin’ Me Cry” which features Paul’s emotionally charged but patient slide work and Glenn’s soulful organ wizzardry. Several great Bucks County blues musicians appear on this collaboration of appreciable songs written by Boddy and co-produced by multi Grammy Award recipient Joe “The Butcher” Nicolo.

SlideWinder is not a band of rookies. Growing up Boddy recalls listening to his Grandmother sing the Blues in London clubs and family gatherings, Bar-B-Q’s with The Bay City Rollers and watching his Uncle John’s band rehearse on Saturday mornings in his Father’s London warehouse. The guitar player in his Uncle’s band went on to join Judas Priest and his Uncle John enjoys a life in Spain as a Neil Diamond tribute act. Later, Boddy’s father was in business with Mark Stevens of The Dovells (The Bristol Stomp) and the late Don Kirshner (Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert). In 1999 Boddy Founded Cayman Records and produced Bob Lowery’s Yellow Light Album. After forty plus years of performing and playing along to Freddie King and Duane Allman records, writing and recording music in multiple genres, and forming the top voted band in Bucks County, this music-man remains true to what he first heard as music. A true champion of the Blues and a guitar slinger at heart.

Hale has been playing music on both coasts for 50 years. Uncle to Lzzy and Arejay Hale of Halestorm, Glenn brings a Jon Lord-esque baroque and rock edge to the band as he expands upon the licks of Jimmy Smith, Billy Preston & Dr. John. In 1968, Hale’s band The Generation won best band in Bucks County. In 2018, only half a century later, he enjoys the same accolade with SlideWinder.

Hearne has been holding bottom for nearly fifty years with some of the best in Blues and Rock. Of note, a tour of Europe with the Todd Wolfe Band (Guitar, Sheryl Crow). Nearly twenty years with the Flamin’ Harry Blues Band kept him local while he also held court with the Craig Thatcher Band. The highlight of his musical jaunt to date was playing bass on Leslie West’s Mystic Fire studio album. Chuck joined SlideWinder in June of 2018.

Hollinsworth has been playing drums since he can remember. He has toured the globe with Todd Wolfe, played with Leslie West and Geoffrey Whitehorn of Procol Harum. Hollingsworth has sat behind Dickey Betts, John Mayall and Andy Powell from Wishbone Ash. Recipient of best drummer in the Lehigh Valley multiple times. Hollingsworth joined SlideWinder in 2019.

Together these outstanding artists make up what is known as The SlideWinder Blues Band, which is blatantly greater than the sum of it’s parts.

Sweet Leda

Sweet Leda has been performing at The Pond almost since its inception.  And all of us here have a huge crush on this band, especially Julie.

Sweet Leda, powered by Julie Cymek’s sultry, commanding vocals and electrifying stage presence, Sweet Leda is taking the diverse mid-Atlantic music scene by storm as one of the most exciting and accomplished live acts on the rise. In fact, Lou Plaia (co-founder of Reverbnation) describes them as “the highlight of every festival they play.” With its rich blend of new school funk,
psychedelic rock, soul and pop, Sweet Leda’s heartfelt original music can best be described as a female-fronted, soul-based, Zeppelin meets Chili Peppers!

Sweet Leda’s sophomore album Let It In captures the live and raw essence of what can only come from years of steady gigs, blood, sweat, and a few tears. To capture this essence, the band recorded all together in one room, tracking analog to 2” tape. What came out of the process is an intimate, in-your-face, edgy sound that exemplifies Sweet Leda live, at their best.Let It In was recorded and engineered at WrightWay in Baltimore by IRKO (Jay-Z, J Lo, Pitbull, Talib Kweli), mastered by Brian Lucey (Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, Beck, Dr John), and produced by Sweet Leda’s very own “fifth Beatle,” Stephen Joseph Antonelli, who also produced and recorded the band’s first album, Need The Music.

The band came together in late 2021 in Kent County, Delaware with Conner Chasanov on vocals, Ben Somers on guitar, and Eddie Jackson on percussion. Union Road Duo

Union Road is a stylish pop-folk duo based out of the Eastern Shore of Maryland, featuring guitarist/vocalist Neil Helgeson, Jr. and Meredith Jones. At the age of 15, Neil had a choice between a Dalmatian puppy or a guitar; he chose the puppy but was surprised to receive both. Self-taught, Neil practiced 5-10 hours a day honing his skills and is now an accomplished song writer, composer, arranger and performer.

Neil first heard Meredith sing in the church they both attend and was left speechless, she is that amazing. Growing up with four musical sisters and a music-teacher-mother, Meredith has enjoyed making music for her entire life. Many months after Neil first heard Meredith sing, she transferred to Salisbury University to finish her degree. Neil spoke to her immediately upon forming a group. The result is Union Road, specializing in contemporary pop and folk music.  Check out their facebook page here: Union Road Duo
